A Day Trip to Edgar Evins State Park on Center Hill Lake

Just 65 miles east of Nashville, Edgar Evins State Park sits tucked into the steep, hilly Eastern Highland Rim — close enough for a spontaneous Saturday, remote enough to feel like a genuine escape. The park stretches across 6,000 acres along the shores of Center Hill Lake, and a single day here gives you more than enough to fill it.

Things to See & Do at Edgar Evins State Park

  • Boating. Edgar Evins Marina and Restaurant is located within the state park. It operates year-round with boat rentals, slip rentals, gas sales, gift shop, boat repair, fishing supplies and information.
  • Hiking. The park has numerous hiking trails as well as shoreline you can navigate on foot.
  • Kayaking / Canoeing. There are a couple of boat ramps within the park. Refer to the park map above.
  • Fishing. Bring a couple of lawn chairs and fish from the shoreline. This is just around the corner from the Caney Fork River too.

The Galley Restaurant at Edgar Evins Marina

The lakeside dining experience at The Galley offers visitors a chance to slow down and enjoy the scenery of Center Hill Lake from Edgar Evins Marina. Whether arriving by boat or by road, guests can relax by the water. For boaters, The Galley Restaurant is a great place for a sunset dinner and ride.

If You Want to Stay Longer

Edgar Evins is well set up for an overnight or a full weekend. The campground has tent and trailer sites with electrical and water hookups, plus primitive walk-in sites for those who want to go quieter. The park also has cabins available to book on-site — a solid option if you the comfort of indoors.
